POWERED by community
OUR MISSION
Building the Foundation
Wellsprings Community Foundation was formed to address a critical gap in retiree and workforce housing in Borrego Springs. Our mission is to advance a phased, mixed-income housing development that prioritizes deeply affordable senior housing while also serving the essential local workers who sustain our community.
We are not seeking to urbanize Borrego Springs, but to strengthen it, ensuring that those who live and work here can continue to do so with dignity, stability, and long-term sustainability. Guided by a mission-driven development approach, we balance feasibility with community need, integrating housing, healthcare access, mobility, and climate resilience to build a lasting foundation of affordability for the people of Borrego Springs.
Bringing the Vision to Life
OUR VALUES
WHAT IT TAKES
RESULTS
We believe Borrego Springs can grow stronger without losing its character. By thoughtfully integrating housing, community access, mobility, and climate resilience, we support a stable, inclusive, and sustainable future for the people who live and work here.
Bringing this vision to life will require a phased, financially sustainable development plan; strong public, private, and nonprofit partnerships; access to funding and land-use approvals; and continued alignment with the needs and character of Borrego Springs. Success will also depend on integrating affordable housing with transportation, community services, and climate-resilient design.
A stronger, more sustainable Borrego Springs where retirees can age in place, essential workers can afford to live near where they work, and residents have greater access to housing, healthcare, and community resources.
Creating Community
The joy comes from creating a community where retirees can remain close to friends and familiar surroundings, local workers can build their lives in the town they serve, and families feel greater stability, connection, and hope for the future. It means strengthening Borrego Springs as a place where people can continue to belong, contribute, and thrive.
